Frequently Asked Questions

When should I apply for trademark renewal?
Ideally 6 months before the expiry date. Applications can still be submitted up to 6 months after expiry with a 100% penalty fee.
Do I need proof of trademark use?
Yes, since Permenkumham No. 12/2021, proof of trademark use must be included in renewal applications. Without proof, the application can be rejected.
What happens if I forget to renew my trademark?
After 6 months from expiry, the trademark status is removed from the General Trademark Register and becomes open to the public. Other parties can register the same mark.
Can a trademark be renewed before 9 years?
No. Renewal can only be done within 6 months before expiry (year 9.5 to 10).
How much does trademark renewal cost?
PNBP renewal fee is Rp 2.25 million for MSMEs and Rp 3 million for general per class. Bizmark.ID fees start from Rp 2.5 million including fees and DJKI administration.
